Overview
The Department of Nephrology at Baby Memorial Hospitals provide advanced, comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases. With a team of highly qualified and experienced nephrologists, the department offers accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment, and long-term management for a wide spectrum of renal conditions.
The department manages kidney disorders such as diabetic nephropathy, chronic kidney failure, urinary tract neoplasms, renal parenchymal diseases, polycystic kidney disease, and inherited renal disorders. Patients undergo thorough evaluations including urine and blood tests, kidney biopsy, and ultrasonography when clinically indicated.
A 14-bedded dialysis unit operates round-the-clock, equipped with sophisticated haemodialysis machines and monitoring systems. To minimise infection risks, dedicated dialysis units are available for HBsAg and HCV-positive patients. Critically ill patients benefit from in-ICU dialysis services and advanced renal replacement therapies such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVH), and Continuous Arteriovenous Haemodialysis (CAVH).
The department also offers plasmapheresis, peritoneal dialysis, and CAPD training for patients and caregivers. Renal transplant patients receive thorough preparation and structured follow-up in a dedicated two-stage transplant ICU. All investigations and treatments are supported by renal histopathology and immunofluorescence studies.
