Overview
The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) provides advanced surgical care for complex conditions affecting the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The team of skilled cardiothoracic surgeons performs a comprehensive range of procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, aortic aneurysm surgery, thoracic resections, and vascular reconstructions. Each procedure is planned with precision and patient safety as the top priority.
The department specialises in beating heart bypass surgery, which eliminates the need for a heart-lung machine and promotes faster recovery with fewer complications. For selected high-risk patients, awake cardiac surgery is performed under regional anaesthesia avoiding general anaesthesia or intubation entirely. Minimally invasive techniques are used for managing lung and mediastinal disorders, ensuring smaller incisions, less pain, and shorter hospital stays.
Every surgical procedure is supported by experienced cardiac anaesthesiologists, critical care specialists, and an advanced Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) for post-operative monitoring. The department works in close coordination with cardiology, cardiac anaesthesia, and critical care teams to ensure safe, seamless, and outcome-focused care. With a patient-first approach, modern infrastructure, and multidisciplinary expertise, the CTVS department delivers high-quality, comprehensive cardiothoracic and vascular surgical care.
